May 25th, 2008. It´s the 25th time that Vesak is celebrated at the Peace Pagoda in Vienna. Vesak is a Buddhist feast where Buddhas Birth, Enlightenment and Death is commemorated by believers of the different Buddhistic traditions. In Vienna it is celebrated at the Handelskai right next to the Donau/Danube-river.
Even though it was cloudy during the day, when the ceremony started at 4 PM in the afternoon the clouds went away right in the moment when buddhistic mantras where uttered. A mere coincidence?!
